Free Pattern: Tulip-like Flower Applique



Supplies: 
Small amount of worsted weight yarn
Size 5 mm (H/8) hook

Abbreviations:
Ch: chain
Sc: single crochet
Sl st: slip stitch
Dc: double crochet

Instructions:
Magic ring, ch 1
Round 1: 6 sc in ring.  Pull ring tight.  Join with sl st to joining ch.  Ch 1.
Round 2:  3 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, 2 sc in the last three st.  Join with sl st to joining ch, ch 1.
Round 3:  3 sc in first st.  Sc in next three st.  3 in next st.  Sc in next st.  *2 sc in next two st.  1 sc in next st.  Repeat from *.  Join with sl st.  Sl st in next two st.
Round 4: Ch 3.  In next st, dc, ch, dc, ch 2.  *Sl st in next st, ch 2.  In same st, dc, ch, dc, ch 2.  Repeat from *.  Sl st in next st, ch 2.  In next st, dc, ch, dc.  Ch 3, sl st in next st.  Finish off, weave in ends.



This looks even better with a leaf, which I made from The Hook Hound’s Trailing Leaves pattern.



Here, this Tulip-like flower and the Five-Petal Flower are shown as appliques on #1's diaper stacker.
